De Actus pontificum Cenomannis vermeldt dat " Atho marchisius " Maine achterliet in de handen van " Gaufridi de Meduana ", waarbij hij ook " uxor eiusdem marchisii Garcendis...filia Herberti Cenomannorum...comitis...Evigila Canem " noemde en specificeerde dat ze eerst was getrouwd met " Theobaldo duci Campanie " en dat hij haar had afgewezen [158] . Dezelfde bron merkt op dat " Gaufredi de Meduana " " tutor et quasi maritus " was , wat impliceert dat Gersende zijn minnares was. Orderic Vitalis vermeldt dat " Hugo filius Herberti " en zijn vrouw "Bertam ipsius relictam, Tedbaldi Blesensium comitis sororem "had" filium ...
