Notes about Johanna Jenetta van 't Loo

Kind onecht, waarvan ouders in ondertrouw.

Bij haar huwelijk woont zij in de Raamstraat in Rotterdam (1819). Later is zij als weduwe inwonend bij het gezin van Ludovicus Aegidius Mesman en Catharina van Trijffel tot haar overlijden. Tot ca 1867 woonden zij in de Lange Torenstraat (wijk 7 nr250) / Delftsche Vaart nr 62 (3 hoog?)

De Lange Torenstraat liep van het Grotekerkplein naar de Sint-Jacobstraat. Bij besluit B. 30 juni 1942 werd de naam ingetrokken. Ze ontving haar naam na de demping van de Slikvaart in de jaren 1852 en 1853, op het tracé waarvan ze werd aangelegd. Deze vaart kwam onder verschillende namen voor. In 1350 treft men de namen Watering of Sloot aan. Het zuidelijke gedeelte werd ook wel Kerkwatering, Kerkvliet of Kerksloot genoemd naar de nabijgelegen Sint Laurenskerk. In het begin van de 17de eeuw komt een gedeelte voor onder de naam Snippevlucht, naar het huis 'van outs genaemd de Snippevlucht', dat in 1625 wordt vermeld op de westzijde van de Slikvaart bij de Sint-Jacobstraat.
Het water wordt op de kaart van Jan Potter (1567) Oude Rotte genoemd. Daar uit niets is gebleken dat die naam toen in gebruik was, valt het te betwijfelen of het water ook deze naam heeft gedragen. Naast Slik- of Slijkvaart komt in de 18de en 19de eeuw ook al Toornvaart of Toornvliet voor. Vanwege de geur die het water verspreidde, sprak men ook wel over Stinksloot. De Torenstraat ontving haar naam omdat ze op de toren van de Grote of Sint Laurenskerk uitkwam.
Ter onderscheiding van de al bestaande Torenstraat, die later is opgegaan in de Sint-Laurensstraat, werd ze wegens haar lengte Lange Torenstraat genoemd. Op de plaats van deze straat ligt nu de Oppert.
