    Cornelis Borghart was eigenaar van een prominente kapperszaak in Rotterdam; de eerste winkel die aandelen uitgaf, zo gaat het verhaal.
    Het was een herenkapsalon en daar werd streng de hand aan gehouden. Vrouwen kwamen niet binnen (verhaal op Google te vinden)
    Van 1887 tot 1900 was de zaak gevestigd op Noordblaak 45 en toen Gerzon hem daar had verjaagd bij den intocht in de Maasstad, verlegde hij zijn salon naar Zuidblaak 16, op een etage.
    Een kamer aan de Blaakkant met een vrij uitzicht op het schoonste wat het oude Rotterdam kon bieden, het volle leven van de Blaak, bevatte de gewone inrichting, tot de bordjes toe, waar "het knippen op Zaterdag" werd uitgesloten".
    Er kwamen rustigere tijden. Toen werd in Nederland geld verdiend, terwijl de wereld bloedde. Marx & Co's Bank meende zich breder te moeten maken en slokte daartoe vele belendende panden op.
    Intussen was Borghart verdreven naar Zuidblaak 10, nu weder in een winkelhuis, waarin eenmaal Coucke Soeurs hadden gezeteld. In 1937 werd de zaak in goud gezet.
    In 1940 werd zijn levenswerk, uit de dagelijkse leiding waarvan hij zich intussen had teruggetrokken, met zoveel grootsere zaken van den aardbodem verdelgd.
    In de rust van een knus huisje in een buitenwijk heeft hij het grote drama zich nog bijna geheel zien ontrollen. Tot hij op 17 april 1945 zacht henenging.

    Bij acte den 20 november 1912 voor den te Rotterdam resideerenden Notaris Hendrik Johannes Lambert verleden, op het ontwerp waarvan Koninklijke Bewilliging is verleend bij besluit van 4 november 1912, no. 14, zijn gewijzigd de statuten der te Rotterdam gevestigde naamloze vennootschap "MAISON CORNELIS BORGHART: .
    Maatschappij tot het uitoefenen eener coiffeursaffaire en het drijven van handel in parfumerieen en mode-artikelen en wat daartoe in den ruimsten zin behoort.
    Zijnde bij die wijziging o.a. bepaald dat de vennootschap thans den naam draagt van:
    MAATSCHAPPIJ TOT EXPLOITATIE DER KAPPERSZAAK "MAISON CIORNELIS BORGHART".
    De acte van wijziging en de Koninklijke Bewilliging zijn geplaatst in het bijvoegsel tot de Nederlandsche Staatscourant van dinsdag 17 december 1912, no. 295, onder volgnummer 1714.
