Gerardus Adels was ten tijde van zijn huwelijk afkomstig uit Amsterdam en aldaar woonachtig op de "Binnen Amstel". Hij was toen 24 en werd geassisteerd door zijn moeder Elisabeth Adels (Roos). Maria de Ruijter was ten tijde van haar huwelijk eveneens uit Amsterdam afkomstig en aldaar woonachtig  in de “Loojerstraat”. Zij was toen 22 jaar en werd geassisteerd door haar vader Nicolaas de Ruijter. Beide personen konden schrijven.
