    MUDAHEERD
    De Mudaheerd, een versterkte burcht aan het Damsterdiep, was ooit de woonplaats van de geschiedschrijver Johan Rengers. In 1581 de legerplaats van Wigbolt van Ewsum
    Daarvoor –in 1501- rukte Haikens, de drost van Leeroord en bendehoofd van Graaf Edzard van Oostfriesland, op tegen huize Muda. Volgens overlevering liet hij uit het klooster Wittewierum een karnton halen, en spande er zes paarden voor alsof het een zwaar kanon was. Jan de Hoedemaker, burger van Groningen, bezag de situatie op afstand en gaf zich over.
    De Mudaheerd bestaat nog steeds en wordt al geruime tijd als agrarisch bedrijf gerund door de familie Doornbos.
