Uiteindelijk werd hij op verzoek van Geertje opgeroepen om met haar voor de kantonrechter te verschijnen op 14 januari 1904. Daar gaf hij alsnog zijn toestemming. Een afschrift van de minute over de zitting is een van de huwelijksbijlagen.
