In 1749 was Eelke Eelkes een gemeen boer te Workum en bestond zijn huishouding uit 2 personen onder de 12 jaar. In 1783 waren Age Wabes, Binte Jelles de Boer te Workum, Pijter Seerps in de Sensmeer en Tjibbe Jelles te Harich administratoren over de nagelaten boedel van Eelke Eelkes, overigens 'de oude' genoemd (WOR 151 66).
De familienaam "De Jong" die voor "Bruynsma" in de plaats komt, is afgeleid van Eelke Eelkes' eerdere bijnaam.
