    Te zamen met Pieter van der Haegen, koopman te Rotterdam,
    had Nicolas Seijs 19 Maart 1 596 een contract van bevrachting gemaakt met
    schipper Jacob Claesz van Monnikendam. Bij de afwikkeling en
    afrekening na volbrachte reis waren geschillen ontstaan, waar-
    voor zij 3 Juni 1597 als scheidsrechters inriepen Pieter van der
    Moere, Willem Willemsz, Hendrick Buyck en Jan Claesz Clouck,
    kooplieden te Amsterdam
    Den 28 Maart 1 597 lag Jan Jansz Meyns schipper van ·Äôt Swarte
    Vercken zeilree in Zeeland, en kreeg 600 kar. gulden voorschot van
    Claes Seys
    Op 1 Oct. 1600 legde Jacob Heemskerck een verklaring af over
    zijn bedrijven op de reis van Jacob van Neck ·Äûter instantie ende
    versouck van Niclaes Seys·Äù, die dus ook participant in de vloot
    van Van Neck was.
    Was hij de Claes Seys, die geboren werd te Gent, en te Amster-
    dam stierf en begraven werd 24 Sept. 1619, dan was hij in Aug.
    1 580 poorter te Amsterdam geworden, koopman op den Dam ·Äûin 't
    Rad van Avontueren·Äù, en getrouwd met Trijn Claesdr. Cloeck.
    Men lette op Nicolaes·Äô relaties met Clouck, Claessen en Claesz.
    Zijn eenige dochter Anna Seys trouwde Dr. Adriaen Pauw, zoon
    van Reinier Pauw, een relatie van Gerrit van Beuningen
