Hofmeier in Austri‰. Behoorde tot de familie der Hofmeiers, wat de hoogste functie was aan het Hof van de Vorsten, en hij behoorde tot de top van de Frankische Aristocratie.Zo was z'n vader Arnulf, Bisschop van Metz. Hij wordt in een document van 648 van de abdij van Stavelot, met zijn broer Cloud genoemd. Hij wordt daarin door Koning Siegbert III benoemd tot " Domesticus", een positie direct na de Hertogen. Angesil werd vermoord door Gondoin , hertog van Austrasi‰, getrouwd met Wulfegunde, dochter van Wulfuald, die Hofmeier was van 662 tot 680. Gondoin was kleinzoon van een beroemd naamgenoot, die tussen 614 en 665 regelmatig werd genoemd, en was gelieerd aan de Hofmeier Odo. Gondoin werd op zijn beurt vermoord door Grimoald zijn zwager.
