Was apotheker van de Casimir apotheek aan de Ernst Casimirlaan (later Velperweg) in Arnhem. Door een ongeval als baby (de kinderwagen was omgevallen) had hij een kort rechter been. Daardoor droeg hij orhopedisch schoeisel. In de apotheek gaf hij les aan leerling apothekers assistenten.
