David E. Brekke of Eureka, California, passed away suddenly on February 1, 2007. David was born on November 1, 1938, in Vancouver, Washington. He was the son of Erling and Eleanor Brekke and always cherished his Norwegian heritage. His family moved to Humboldt County in 1952 becoming long-time residents of Scotia. David graduated from Fortuna High School in 1958 and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years.North Coast and working with many wonderful people. He retired from Caltrans in 2000.moment’s notice. At home, a crossword puzzle was always nearby and he enjoyed working in his shop. David’s family will always treasure his woodworking talent.ing with Joann and both were long-time members of the Humboldt Hoedowner Square Dance Club. They enjoyed traveling and delighted in visiting family and friends - making new friends wherever they went.ildren: Rachael, Kristen, Emily, Ethan, and Jimmy. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara White of The Dalles, Oregon; his brother, Dick and Boni Brekke of Central Point, Oregon; his sister-in-law, Darlene Sartain; his brothers-in-law, Gene and Linda Smith, and Phil and Vicki Smith. He is survived by many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erling and Eleanor Brekke; his sister, Julia Wilson; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Sartain and Ray White.
