I came home from my mission and after a few inconsequential manufacturing and sales jobs I landed a employment in finance at Channer Newman Securities in Chicago, Illinois. Passing the general series seven bond trading exam I transferred to the Illinois Company. After owning and remodeling twenty-five apartments on the north side of Chicago, we moved to California.

      With another stint of finance, I was connected from a church member to employment as the corporate treasurer for a professional liability insurance group. My responsibilities were to raise capital for the company. After it went out of business, and another push-out, I became licensed as an insurance agent and formed American Energy Insurance Services and started writing insurance on hydroelectric power plants.

      From my insurance platform, I identified struggling dams and managed to buy a distressed plant in Fullerton, California. With this, I created my energy company- American Energy Inc. During the height of my career, I owned and operated thirteen power plants with 26 employees. The dams were located in Elba, Alabama; Tomahawk Wisconsin; Seneca Falls, NY; five near Lansing, Michigan and finally Barnett Shoals in Athens, Georgia where my son, Ross was the plant manager. During this time, I also accumulated five rental houses and a wedding venue inMichigan.

      When I sold Tomahawk Power & Pulp bought out my partners. When I sold my Seneca Falls, NY power plant I paid off my house and bought two rental houses.

      I formed American Energy, Incorporated to purchase Tomahawk Power and Pulp in Lincoln County Wisconsin. Adding to my portfolio of dams I added Commonwealth Power which had five dams Irving, Middleville, LaBarge, Smithville and Mix located in Eaton, Barry, and Kent county Michigan. Next, I bought Seneca Falls Power Corp which included Seneca Falls powerhouse and Waterloo on Seneca Lake, New York.
