Notes about Aaltje Wibalda

Alice Wilbalda was born in the Netherlands (Holland). She was the third child and eldest daughter of seven children born to her parents John and Henrietta (the youngest two born in Cook County, Illinois). Her parents and their first five children arrived in Cook County, Illinois in Aug 1885. Alice was married twice. The first marriage was to Casper Rieve (b. Aug. 1873) on July 4, 1901 in St. Joseph, Michigan. Her husband died on Nov. 2, 1902 at age 29. There is no record of any child born of this short marriage. When her older brother Orne and his wife moved to Brookfield, Wisconsin in the Autumn of 1903, Alice moved with them, Alice Rieve married Frederick H. Ryan (b. Jan. 1880) on March 18, 1905 in Brookfield, Wisconsin. They lived in Waukesha County all their lives (Brookfield and Pewaukee). They had no children. They usually spent the winters months at their second home in Nashville, Tennessee. Her youngest sister Clara died in 1909 at age 13. Alice Ryan died in 1946 at age 65 at their Nashville, Tennessee home. Her husband died 22 years later. She was survived by sister, Mrs. Grace Newton, and brothers Orne and Dick Wibalda. She had no children of her own but she had many nieces and nephews that she loved. NOTE: marker shows year of birth as 1881 but that is incorrect. Her sister Grace was born in 1881.
