PRYOR — Our beloved matriarch, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Cecelia Josephine Roubideaux, 92, died Jan. 9, 2010, at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, after complications from a fall. She was born July 6, 1917, to Alice and James Pease in the I.H.S. hospital located in Crow Agency. She was raised on Beauvois Creek between Pryor and St. Xavier. She was a member of Ties-the-Bundle Clan.

 

During the Great Depression she lived in Lodge Grass, with her mother, father and four sisters. When Cecelia left Lodge Grass it was in the later part of the Great Depression. Cecelia traveled through and to many western and mid-western states, working numerous jobs. She was especially proud of her welding accomplishments in Seattle ship yards.

 

In 1935, Cecelia married Jay Simpson and from that union James Simpson was born. Jay was killed in World War II in Europe; he was a fighter pilot.

 

She then married Robert Roubideaux in 1946, and from that union three sons were born, William, Ray and Donald Roubideaux. In April of 1960, she lost her husband Robert and her son William in a car accident.

 

Cecelia is known for her generosity and hospitality as well as her fragrant sweet rolls. Her door was always open and the coffee pot ready. She loved to knit, crochet, do beadwork and make quilts. She was especially fond of visits from her grandchildren.

 

Cecelia is survived by three sons, James Simpson, Ray Roubideaux, Donald Roubideaux; sister Ellen Byers; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host offriends.

 

She was preceded in death by her son, William; husbands Jay F. Simpson and Robert Roubideaux; sisters Velma Haukaas, Sarah Bradley and Vivian Janis.

 

Visitationwill be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Vigil Services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday with Funeral services 11 a.m. Wednesday, both at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.dahlfuneralchapel.com
