Inge Johansen melder: 'Han var på Svinøy et par år etter at han var gift, tok så over lnr.38, Øverjorda på Gimstad. Bygselbrev av 1815 på 1/2 v. av statens jord. Hans Baade Pettersen var en stordrivar og en framstående mann, velstående og 'noko sjølbyrg'. Han ville bygsle Hammaren ved Utflesa, men det gikk nå ikke. I 1816 var han lagrettemann, i 1847 og 1850 medlem av valgstyret for valgmannsvalg. Han var visstnok med i Herredstyret! ' (Bø Bygdebok II s. 237) Er hetende Hans Baade Pettersen i BB-II s.216 Gift 1. gang i 1814 med Anne Marie Pettersdatter, Ramberg, f. 1795, d . 1858. De fikk 10 unger.
