Notes about Coenraad Hentzepeter

In de Compagnie van de Heer Colonel van Wartensleben in 't garnizoen Maaslandsluis.

De Compagnie lag in 1776 in Hulst in garnizoen. Het optreden in deze streken stond in verband met woelingen en burgertwisten toen het leger van de koning van Pruisen de Prinsgezinden alhier te hulp kwam. Het regiment was in 1752 geformeerd uit de Duitsche landen van Prins Willem IV.

De stadhouder Willem V verbleef vaak op het Hof te Dieren en onderhield een vriendschap met de familie Coenraad Hentzepeter te Drempt bij Doesborgh. De stadhouder was een vrolijk en beminnelijk mensch (Willem-Batavus) maar koningin Wilhelmina had een uitgesproken hekel aan hem. Een 'sufferd' noemde ze hem.
