Roy Perry Lien, was educated in the public schools of Canby, Minnesota, he started life as a farmer in the nearby sections. He moved to Minneapolis for a short time, then returned to Canby where he found employment with various business firms, mainly as a drug clerk. In 1928 he moved to Klamath Falls to open the MacMarr store, later taken over by the Safeway Stores, it being the first chain grocery to operate in Klamath Falls. He was engaged for several years as manager of chain groceries here, but in 1935 entered business for himself under the name of Lien Grocery in a small building in the Stewart and Lennox addition, a few miles west of Klamath Falls on the Ashland route. June 7, 1931, Roy Perry Lien and Elvira Call were married in Klamath Falls. A daughter was born to them Myra born August 10, 1935 and a son Delbert, born December 10, 1935 both in Klamath Falls. Mr. Lien is a member of the Klamath Falls Aerie No. 2090, F.O. Eagles, the Knights of the Pythias in Minnesota, the Parent Teachers Association of Klamath Falls, the Presbyterian Church and the Republican Party. K. Co. History ************* Roy P. Len, 90, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 1990, in Klamath Falls. He was born in Minnesota to Ole and Marit Huell Lien. He moved to Klamath Falls in1928. He married Elvira Call June 7, 1931, in Klamath Falls where they made their home. They operated Lien's Market until 1964, when they retired. Mr. Lein was a member of the Lions Club and a life member of the Elks Lodge. Survivors are his sister, Esther Questad, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Myra Lee, Klamath Falls; son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Shirley, Auburn, WA; grandchildren, Karen Turnbow, Salem, Lind DeLawyer, Klamath Falls, and Doug, Don, Shawn and Shari Lein, all Auburn; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sept. 30, 1988. ************ daughter Myra Marit Lien Lee died of cancer July 5, 1991 in Klamath Falls. (Husband Kenneth "Jack" Lee)
