Orvil moved to Havre, Montana in 1915 to visit his brothers, Francis

and C. A. Slyngstad. He liked the area, so he sold his mother's farm

and moved with his new wife Lucille. He managed the H. Earl Clack

Elevator and Oil Business, which after several name changes are still

in the family. He was mayor of Havre in 1936 and 1937, and has been a

lifetime director ofCitizens Bank in Havre. He loved gardening and

flowers, especially roses. He won many prizes for his produce and

flowers including the Grand Sweepstake Award in Horticulture at the

Hill County Fair. blue eyes and light brown hair according to WWI

draft registration June 5, 1917. Expecting a child.
