Notes about Cora Smedshammer

Mrs. Christ (Cora) Ellison, 93, formerly of the North LaMoure community and Hastings died in a Valley City Hospital Wednesday, October 19, 1983. Cora Smedshammer was born February 7, 1890 in Litchville Township, LaMoure County, the daughter of Christopher and Kjerste Smedshammer. She was baptized and confirmed in the North LaMoure Church and received her education in a rural school. On June 29, 1916, she married Christ Ellison at her farm home. They farmed in the North LaMoure area until 1960 when they moved to Hastings. They lived in Carrington for several years. He died March 19, 1971. Mrs. Ellison was a life-long member of the North LaMoure Lutheran Church and the ALCW of the church. She is survived by a son, Carlton Ellison, Willmar, Mn.; a daughter, Doris (Mrs. Fred) Dunn, Rialto, Calif.; a brother, Justin Smedshammer, Valley City; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter Mrs. Marvin (Wilma) Olson, four sisters and five brothers.
