Gjertrud ble født på Gullbekkheia i Rana. Men da hun var 19 år og faren døde tok moren, henne og hennes søsken med over fjellet til Beiarn hvor flere av slektningene allerede var. Hun er å finne på Tverrånes i Beiarn i 1851 sammen med barnefaren til hennes sønn Johan Reinholt Bang. (Barnefar er Johan Pedersen fra Dokmo i Beiarn.) Senere får hun datteren Karen Lovise Fredrikke ( f. 5.juni 1884), med Elisæus Iversen Kvæl, Beiarn. Men i klokkerbok for Gildeskål sokn, Saura, er hun ved sin død oppgitt som kårkone hos Kristen Olaus Nilsen, (f. 12.april 1839) på Nord-Finset i Gildeskål. Hun var konfirmert i Mo 20. juni 1869, datter av gårdbruker Anders Bang Zakariassen, født 1828 og hustru Rani (Randine) Eriksdatter født 1835 (ble som enke viet til Israel Larsen, Forsaa.. Gjertrud var av Ørjan-ætten fra Rana. Ørjan Gregussen født 1624 i Jamtland, død 1695 på Jamtlien i Nord-Rana. Han kom fra Jamtland til Ørjedalen (Hattfjelldalen) ca 1654 for å unngå å bli svensk undersått ved Jamtlands overgiving til Sverige etter Brømsebrofreden 13. august 1645. Ørjan nedstammer, etter sigende fra Gregorius av Stadrheim, nu Stårheim i Nordfjord, en berømt lendermann i det trettende århundre, gift med Cecilie, datter av Haakon IV konge hin unge. Etter store konflikter med "lappene" i Hattfjelldalen måtte Ørjan forlate nybyggerlivet i Hattfjelldal og kom til Mo prestegjeld (Nord-Rana) i 1861. Han bosatte seg på gården "Lien" som senere ble kalt Jamtlien etter ham. Fra 1815 og utover til 1850-60 ble det 20-25 km lange dalføret ovenfor Høyforsslett i Beiarn overtatt som nyrydninger av ungdom fra Rana etter bevilling fra Statens Skogvesen. Senere har alle nyryddere fått kjøpe gårdene sine av Staten. Litt av Ørjan-slekten kom til Beiarn, deriblant Anders Bang Zakariassen og hustruen Randi Eriksdatter.
