Gift 1926 i Bergen med Alfhild Petrine Elida Paulsen, f. 1904 i Hamarøy. 3 barn. Dro som ganske ung til sjøs og var utsatt for krigsforlis utenfor Murmanskkysten i 1916. Seilte under siste krig i alliert fart på d/s Dokka, og omkom 17. oktober 1940 da skipet ble senket av tysk u-båt, på vei fra Barry Docks til Quebec.
