Van Johannes Franciscus Claus heb ik wel een document: hij vraagt aan de maire van Bergum in oktober 1813 verlof aan om terug te keren naar Galmaarden, het dorp waar hij zijn jeugd heeft doorgebracht.Dat document geeft ook een schrijving/signalement van Joh.Franc. Claus. Zijn ouders: Petrus Josephus Claus (Pierre Joseph) en Johanna Catherina Sirjacobs zijn beide overleden in 1810 en 1809 in Galmaarden. Uit de (franse) overlijdensakte blijkt dat Petrus een zoon is van Guillaume Claus. Deze is vermoedelijk geboren in 1720. Hij is drie keer getrouwd. Zoon Petrus Josephus is van zijn eerste vrouw: Marian Therese Schrever(huwelijk in 1745) zij overl;ijdt in 1751. Het kan zijn dat Guillaume een zoon is van Hieronymus Claus, wsant die trouwt in 1717 in Moerbeke. Opvallend is dat Joh.Franciscus Claus, hij was linnenwever, op papier terugkeert naar Oostermeer. Hij is op papier de vader van het eerste kind Halbe Johannes van Aukje Halbes van der Heide. Uit andere documenten: een notariële akte, een kadaster beschrijving en de huwelijksbijlage van dochter Minke Klaus, wordt wel de naam Willem Claus genoemd. Zou dan de broer Guillaume ( = Willem) op het document van Joh. Franciscus zijn teruggekeerd naar Oostermeer en daar onder zijn naam hebben geleefd? Dit houdt in dat alle nazaten kinderen zijn van Guillaume/ Willem Claus. m.v.g Joop Claus , Berltsum, zoon van Pieter Claus en Okje van der Bij, kleinkind van Johannes Claus en jacobje Dalstra
