Cornelis Gerritsz Sorgdrager was schipper op de schepen "Juffrouw Maria" (1730), "Emma Galey" (1749), "Vossendam" en "Susanna Maria". Hij was commandeur op de walvisvaart, scheepseigenaar, cargadoor, reder en boekhouder. Verder wordt hij genoemd in het Kadaster als grondbezitter te Hee (een buurtschap bij Kaard, Terschelling). In 1748 liet hij door een notaris een testament opstellen.
