Hij legt in een journaal of memorie gegevens vast over "...notabele dingen mij in mijn leven overkomen". Woont in 1575/1576 15 mnd. in "Habel de Grace" (Le Havre). Reist in 1577 en 1578 in Portugal en Spanje "...om het land te besien en de Spaanse taal te leren". Reist in de tweede helft van 1578 te voet van Madrid via Burgos, Bordeaux, Parijs, Antwerpen naar Rotterdam, volgens zijn aantekeningen totaal 350 mijl (dat kon kennelijk allemaal tijdens de tachtigjarige oorlog!).
