Notes about Gerardus Hubertus Koren

Gerard's vader overlijdt nog voor z'n 2e verjaardag in 1873. Gerard is vrijgesteld van militaire dienst wegens een gebrek, hij heeft een klompvoet, en loopt daarom enigszins moeilijk. In 1903 doet hij mee aan de toneelopvoering van '... De Watergeuzen" als verteller.  Zijn moeder overlijdt 1 maand na zijn huwelijk in 1904. Hij woont en werkt in Roermond achtereenvolgens in de Veldstraat 30 (eerste helft 1906) en 18 (1906-1907, vervolgens zit daar een  doodskistenmaker Th. Stollenwerk) en op de Godsweerdersingel 24, vanaf 15 mei '22 op nr 28  (Theo Cox, de beeldhouwer, woonde op nr 18). Als assuradeur neemt hij voor eigen zaak leningen aan, maar kan in de aanloop van de crisis niet terugbetalen en gaat failliet in 1927. Hij wordt verdacht van fraude (verduistering van obligaties) tot april 1927. Nog een zaak wordt in maart 1928 afgerond. Hij verhuist officieel 4 april 1927 naar Utrecht, zijn gezin is al op 9 februari daarheen verhuisd. Het gezin woont daar (deels) op kosten van de studiebeurs van zoon Gerard. Vanwege de kosten verhuist men 5 keer in 7 jaar: van Musschenbroekstraat 43, Abraham Bloemaertstr. 7; Koekoekstraat 6; Oude Gracht 221 hg (nabij Lijnmarkt, boven een wasserette); Da Costakade 37; Gerard's laatste woonadres is Westerkade 22bis.
