    The Reverend Ruth A. Fries Robbins (nee Workman) of Rocky Hill, NJ passed away at her residence on Friday, May 5, 2017.

    She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on October 9, 1935 to John and Angie Medema Workman.
    She was married to Carl A. Robbins for 20 years before his passing on February 8, 2012.

    Rev. Ruth received a Master of Divinity degree, in 1981, from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL and a Master of Pastoral Care and Counseling degree in 1986 from the New Brunswick Theological Seminary.

    Rev. Ruth served as Senior Pastor of Rocky Hill Reformed Church, from 1983-1993, and interim minister of South Branch Reformed Church, Harlingen Reformed Church and Staten Island Reformed Church. She was chairperson of Social Action Commission of the RCA from 1985-1990. Ruth was passionate in her life’s work of ministry to her congregation and community. She was selfless in her care for the spiritual and emotional needs of her parishioners and in doing so made a profound impact on the lives of many.

    Ruth was devoted to her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel with her family, especially summer vacations on Blueberry Pond in Cape Cod.

    Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Jeffrey Bessey, and son and daughter-in-law, Paul J. and Billie Sola Fries, and five grandchildren; Jason Bessey and wife Emily Moran, Matthew Bessey and fiancée Colleen Calvo, Sarah Bessey, Charley Fries and Luke Fries.

    Ruth was much loved by those whose lives she touched. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and the community she served.

    Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Harlingen Reformed Church, 34 Dutchtown Zion Road, Belle Mead, NJ 08502 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM with a funeral service beginning at 11:00AM. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Carl, in Rocky Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill, NJ.

    In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated in Rev. Ruth’s memory to unicefusa.org, ACLU.org or Philabundance, 3616 S. Galloway St., Philadelphia, PA 19148.
