Personal data Marjorie "Marge" Medema

  • Nickname is Marge.
  • She was born on January 22, 1933 in Everett,Snohomish, Washington.
  • She died on December 5, 2022 in Everett Snohomish Washington, she was 89 years old.
Marjorie (Marge) was born in Everett, Washington to Edward and Wilhelmina Medema. She had three older brothers: Everett, John and Clarence, and one younger sister, Nancy. The siblings stayed very close throughout their lives. Marge attended Everett Christian School, Snohomish High School and Calvin College in Michigan. Marge made life-long friendships in high school and college and regularly kept in touch with her friends through reunions and round robin letters.

Marge met Arthur Wrisley, the love of her life, while he was stationed in Washington during his time serving in the Air Force and they married in 1956 at the First Christian Reformed Church of Everett. Marge attended Everett CRC her entire life and was an active and beloved member.

Art and Marge had two children, Heidi and Kurt. The kids were blessed with a wonderful childhood filled with road trips and travel (Chelan and Hawaii being favorites) and excellent homemade food. Marge was active in all their school activities and sports. The Wrisley's home was filled with family, friends and neighbors while the kids were growing up. Marge loved spending time with all the kids' friends and cared for them like her own.

Marge (Trudi) worked for the Everett Herald for 40 years as an accountant and considered her coworkers to be her second family. Outside of work, Marge volunteered for many organizations over the years. The Kidney Auxiliary of Puget Sound was especially close to her heart and the annual Christmas wreath fundraiser brought her so much joy.

In her spare time and retirement, Marge enjoyed spending time with family and blessing everyone with her unmatched cooking and baking skills. Art and Marge traveled several times a year, but always loved coming home to her "pretty little house". Marge loved reading, gardening, and as a Husky football season-ticket holder, attending games with the family each fall. Art and Marge loved going to sporting events and could be found watching just about any local or national game on TV. Marge's most cherished role in life was being Grandma to her grandkids. They feel so thankful to have spent many years playing, talking and traveling with her.

Marjorie passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022 and joined her husband in Heaven. She is survived by her children, Heidi [Randy] Fretland and Kurt [Kristin] Wrisley, and grandchildren, Emily [Alex] Forsyth, Jenny Fretland and Gavin Wrisley. Marge also leaves brother-in-law Jim Stavinga, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families, who she enjoyed many memories with throughout the years as matriarch of the Medema family. Marge's quick wit, joyful heart, generous spirit and endless energy to serve others will be missed, but we are comforted to know she is with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.

A celebration of life will be held at Everett CRC on December 11th at 1pm.
Donations in memory of Marge can be made to Everett CRC or The Kidney Auxiliary of Puget Sound.
