    Het postkantoor van Kralingen heeft een dramatische geschiedenis gekend. Het was een postkantoor dat in de meidagen van 1940 werd gebombardeerd. Daarna werd een nieuw kantoor in een bus geïnstalleerd en een week later verplaatst naar een kerkgebouw. In een paar regels de geschiedenis: Op 15 juli 1935 werd een bijkantoor geïnstalleerd in de Vredehofstraat in Kralingen. Dit kantoor kreeg de naam “Rotterdam-Oost”.
    In dit bijkantoor werd het publiek in staat gesteld gebruik te maken van de telefoon en de telegraaf. We kunnen zeggen: dit was een echt postkantoor van de PTT. Helaas werd het kantoor bij het bombardement op Rotterdam op 14 mei 1940 verwoest en brandde volledig af.

    Ook uit een krantenbericht in het Rotterdamsch Dagblad van 17 mei 1940 werd melding gemaakt van de verwoesting van het postkantoor aan de Vredehofstraat 71 in Kralingen.
    Anno 2020 staan er gargaeboxen tussen de panden op de plek waar ooit het postkantoor stond.
    Ook op Wikipedia staat een vermelding: Op de hoek van de Annastraat staat de neogotische Gereformeerde Kerk uit 1888, ontworpen door J.B. Winters. Na de verwoesting van het oude postkantoor in de Vredehofstraat tijdens het bombardement van Rotterdam op 14 mei 1940 deed het gebouw dienst als postkantoor.
    Oorzaak: Bom op postkantoor Vredenhofstraat in Kralingen, maar mogelijk ook door overval waarna bom op postkantoor viel.

Volgens zoon Nicolaas Dekker (1917) wilde de moeder van Cornelis Dekker, Wouterina Rietvelt, geen toestemming geven voor het huwelijk met Antonia Bulte.
De reden was dat Cornelis een goed inkomen had, wat ze beslist niet wilde missen. Door tussenkomst met de kantonrechter is het huwelijk alsnog goedgekeurd.

Blijkt ook uit huwelijksaankondiging met registratie kantongerecht Rotterdam, 14-10-1916.
