Stamboom Knol » Engelke Jans (1749-1811)

Personal data Engelke Jans

  • He was born on August 5, 1749 in Ihrhove, Lower Saxony, Germany.

Not sure where birth location of Ihrhove (Deutchland) came from...
  • Profession: landbouwer op Nieuwenhuis te Oterdum.
  • He died on January 14, 1811 in Oterdum, Gemeente Delfzijl, Groningen, Netherlands, he was 61 years old.Source 1

Burial says 61 yrs, 5 months old so gives a birth date in late 1749. This is about right for marriage in 1778 & son Jan Engelke in 1780. Marriage and son born in Oterdum.

Have found another marriage for Engelke Jans (08-01-1799 to Harmke Sijwkes in Oterdum) and three children (Pieter 1800- presumed died, Pieter 1803, Hemme 1805 and Hindertje 1808).
Burial says "nalatende 3 kinderen en vrouw" which matches above.

Burial does not mention previous wife (Eitje/Etien Everts) from 1778 - presumed dead, but marriage contract with Harmke Sijwkes notes bridegroom's brother-in-law as Harm Everts. Previous wife Eitje/Etien did have brother Harm and Angelke would not have a brother-in-law without previous marriage.
