Jan Harms Nienhuis is geboren op 19 september 1771 als zoon van Harm Everts, landbouwer in Scheemda, en vanaf 1774 landbouwer in Zuidwolde, op 't Moordhuis, en Trijntje Jans van Calcar. Jan overlijdt op 7 december 1809. Jan is landbouwer in Zuidwolde. Hij trouwt in 1796 in Zuidwolde met Leentje Freerks Nienhuis. Zij is geboren ca. 1764 als dochter van Freerk Jacobs Nienhuis, landbouwer op "de Nienhuizen" te Zuidwolde, en Trientje Meertens. Ze overlijdt op 15 augustus 1833 te Zuidwolde.
