Hij is gerecruteerd met 300 man om de protestanten in Holland te steunen in hun opstand tegen Spanje.


 


De naam Loban of Lobban is afkomstig van de provincie Moray in Schotland, langs de Moray-Firth op het Black Isle; deze naam komt in Schotland ook nu nog veel voor in de buurt van Aberdeen, waar ze overwegend gegoede boeren zijn.
