Fredegundis, gest. 596, van haar weten we slechts dat zij van geringe afkomst was en door haar schoonheid al zeer vroeg concubine van Chilperic werd maar geen genoegen nam met deze bijrol, had de doodvan velen op haar geweten, zij liet Audovera vermoorden, Chilperics eerste vrouw uit zijn huwelijk in ca. 549, vervolgens Galswinthe, Chilperics tweede vrouw sinds 564 en zuster van Brunhilde, kreeg uiteindelijk haar zin in 568 door haar huwelijk met Chilperic , was tevens verantwoordelijk voor de dood van Chilperics enige overlevende zonen Merovech en Clovis, de bisschop van Rouen en Chilperic'sbroer Sigebert, deze lijst van slachtoffers was waarschijnlijk verre van volledig.
