Olbert overleed volgens de Burgerlijke Stand op 30 september 1944 ergens in Midden-Europa. Echtgenote Henriëtte werd op 08 mei 1945 bevrijd uit kamp Gross-Rosen en wist naar Winschoten terug te keren op 23 juli 1945. Daar vestigde ze zich in eerste instantie in een buurwoning van haar oude huis, namelijk Burgemeester Venemastraat 12, maar vertrok op 5 december naar Langestraat 51.

Olberts ouders waren al op 07 mei 1943 te Sobibor vermoord, en omdat hij enig kind was, had Henriëtte als diens erfgenaam denkelijk recht op dit huis, dat door de NGV tijdens de oorlog niet verkocht was. Veel had ze echter in Winschoten niet te zoeken, daar de hele familie dood was. Zodoende vertrok ze op 24 april 1946 naar haar geboorteplaats Amsterdam, waar ze op 09 april 1947 te Bloemendaal in het huwelijk trad met Albert Leijdesdorff.
