OBITUARY Transcribed in honor of Barlow and in deepest sympathy for his family.

Our dear loving Father, Grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and friend, Barlow W. Pace, age 87, returned home to his Heavenly Father, Feb. 14, 2016, surrounded by his family in Loa, Utah.

Barlow was born Feb.23, 1928 in Loa, son of Barlow Wiford and Maud Davis Pace. He was the youngest of 4 siblings. He married Millie Albrecht June 24, 1948 in Las Vegas. They were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple in 1955. Their marriage was a true partnership full of love for each other. They purchased and worked a farm and Cattle for some 57 years and enjoyed 65 years together. Millie passed away May 23, 2014. Barlow was most proud of his eternal companion and their children.

He began employment with the U.S. Department of Agriculture April 1, 1949 where he received numerous awards, including a national award in 1974. He retired July 1, 1983 after 35 years of service. Wayne was active in church and community. He helped in building the first telephone line into Wayne Co. He worked to secure the Mill Meadow Reservoir, served on the Water Conservancy District Board implementing sprinkler irrigation systems in Wayne Co. He obtained the 2nd Culinary water well for Loa town. As Mayor of Loa town he was instrumental in building the new Turner park, planting trees on Main St. and the irrigation system and grass for Loa cemetery. He was Justice of the peace for Wayne Co. He was the organizer and fundraiser for the Loa Community Center and park. He helped organize & contributed many yrs of service for the first volunteer fire dept. and EMT organizations for the county.

A member and officer in the Wayne Riders, Barlow was on the Board of Directors for the State Riding Club Assoc. He was an active member and officer in the Wayne Lions Club and a board member for the Capitol Reef Natural History Association for 22 years.

His church callings include Sunday School President, Scout leader, ward clerk, Elders Quorum Pres, High Priest Group Leader, High Council and Manti LDS Temple ordinance worker. An avid hunter, Barlow has taken trophy deer, buffalo, elk and antelope.

He is survived by 5 children; 17 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and a sister Imogene & Dennis Dalley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie; parents, Barlow & Maud Pace; 2 sons, Owen and Seth; a grandson Jason Wayne Hunt; 2 sisters Madge & Vern Taylor and Martha May and Neldon Ellett.

Funeral will be held Feb. 20, 2016. Burial will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of:
SPRINGER TURNER FUNERAL HOME OF RICHFIELD AND SALINA, UTAH.
