Notes about Alma Guy CHESNUT

Alma "Guy" Chesnut

After a valiant battle with cancer, Guy passed away July 31, 2008 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 8, 1923 in Teasdale, Utah to Almira Wilson and Alma Francis Chesnut. Due to the untimely death of his mother, Guy was raised by Valentine and Vera Oyler in what is now Capitol Reef National Park.

He married his sweetheart, Flora Chappell on May 29, 1943. They were sealed in the Manti Temple on February 28, 1946. They are the parents of five daughters.

Guy served in the Navy during WWII as a medic in the South Pacific. He was a well respected painting contractor for over 30 years. Guy and Flora spent many winters traveling to Arizona where they made many friends. They enjoyed traveling, golfing, hunting and especially fishing.

He was an active member of the L.D.S. Church, serving as a much loved Bishop, twice. He served in many other positions and found true joy in serving the Lord and others.

He is survived by his wife, Flora and daughters: Vicki (Ted) Murray, Sue Creer, Sheila (Jack) Daybell, Evelyn (Duane) Jensen, and Teresa (Chris) Miller. Also 18 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and a son-in-law Kent Creer.

Dad loved every day of his life. There was no such thing as a bad day. Even though his life was filled with much adversity, he never complained. He left us on a beautiful summer day and we will miss him always. We love you, Dad.

Much gratitude is extended to Nancy and Bob and associates at Vista Care.
