Fremont, Utah - Our kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Elda Ann Blackburn Ellett, age 95, left her care worn body and was reunited with her eternal companion, November 6, 2015 at her home in Fremont, Utah. She was born February 14, 1920 in Loa, Utah, the 13th out of 14 children, born to Heber Charles and Louisa Taylor Blackburn. The day before Elda's second birthday, her little brother Lewis was born, but tragically about two weeks later, their mother died from complications of childbirth leaving behind her nine living children after having buried five. Elda went to live with her mother's sister Tilda who had lost her baby about the same time Elda's mother died. She lived with Aunt Tilda until her dad remarried Sara Jane Shiner a few years later. Growing up Elda was very competitive in foot racing beating all the boys her age. She was also a great speller and won many spelling bees.

On her 18th birthday, which was also Valentine's Day, she married Carl Maxfield Ellett in the Manti LDS Temple for Time and all Eternity. He passed away May 17, 2004. They enjoyed 66 years together. They lived in Fremont where they raised their family.

Elda loved working in her yards making them absolutely beautiful. She had a green thumb and her flowers were always a showcase. She loved spending time gardening and always grew an abundant one. Elda was also an exceptional cook and was noted for her homemade noodles, rolls, bread and pies. Her burnt sugar cake was fought over at many family reunions. Elda was a great seamstress and could totally remake a dress from an old one. She was always sewing something including quilt blocks. The stitches in the quilts that she made were perfect. She also did a lot of hand embroidering and crocheting. She made many quilts and baby quilts for her children and grandchildren that will be a treasure forever.

Elda had beautiful penmanship and she faithfully kept a journal every day. She served in many capacities in the LDS Church, including Relief Society President. Her greatest joy was serving as ordinance worker in the Manti Temple with Carl for 7 years. She had a testimony and love for our Savior. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and was very grateful of her heritage.

Elda deeply loved her family and always said she had the greatest family in the world. She was always very supportive of them in everything they did. A week before she passed away she made the statement that the pain she endured was worth it because of all the cute great-grandchildren that came trick or treating.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sara Rees and Teri Leavitt for their loving and compassionate services to our mother.

Elda is survived by her children: Lamont and Karen Ellett of Loa; Evelyn Albrecht of Pleasant Grove; Ruth Ellett of Boise, ID; Francine and Gary Hallows of Torrey; Carla and Adrian Ruger of Fremont; 38 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her youngest brother Lewis (Donna, deceased) Blackburn of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her sweetheart Carl Maxfield Ellett; a granddaughter; 2 great grandsons; 12 siblings and in-laws: Leonard and Loren Blackburn (twins), Phidella Blackburn, Alma and Dorthella Blackburn, Luella Blackburn, Oden Blackburn, Hilda Blackburn, Elbert and Nina Blackburn, Wayne and Ione Blackburn, Deward and Ellen Blackburn, Nancy and Worth Sorenson, Madge and Dale Albrecht, Kenneth Taylor and Willis Spafford.
