Notes about Sarah BRUMPTON

Sarah Brumpton was the first of 3 children born to George Brumpton and his wife Jane Wilson. She was born in Alford, Lincolnshire, England in 1822, probably in January or early February as she was christened on the 16th of February 1822. Sarah had two brothers; George and Fredrick.

Not long after her mother Jane died in 1831, when Sarah was only 9 years of age, her father remarried to Sarah Kirby and had a large family.

Sarah married Samuel Sharpe on the 8 January 1844 in Hull, Yorkshire, England. We don't know what brought her to Hull, but Samuel Sharpe was a sloopman and worked on the water.

Sarah and Samuel had eight children. The children were: Grace, Naomi, Rachel, Mary Jane, Jessie, Joseph Abraham, Samuel, and Theodosia. The youngest was Theodosia born in 1862. Sarah died the next the following 28th of July, 1863 of congestive heart failure and fever.

Samuel found it impossible to raise the family on his own with the youngest as 1 year old. He soon remarried a woman by the name of Hannah or Anna.
