Four Hurt in
Collision
Four people were injured
when a service car and a
lorry collided on the Bass
Highway near Westbury
yesterday morning.
Mr. A. S. Marr (63), of Little
Arthur St., Sydney, suffered
shock, lacerations to the face and
right hand, and probable frac
tures of the ribs, thigh and
pelvis. He was admitted to the
Launceston General Hospital, and
his condition is satisfactory. Mrs.
Marr (his wife) received slight
abrasions. Mrs. G. J. 1Mathew
son, of Queenstown, was treated
at St. Andrew's Hosiptal, West
bury, for injuries to the right
arm and facial injuries caused by
broken glass. The fourth in
jured passenger was William Ion
(29), of Beaconsfield, who re
ceived cuts to the face.
All the injured, with the ex
ception of Mr. Marr, were allow
ed to go home.
The accident occurred about
8.45 a.m. near McKinstry's cor
ner, when Sullivan's service car,
driven by Mr. A. A. Davies, was
proceeding to Deloraine, and a
lorry driven by Sydney Weeks,
was travelling towards Launces
ton.
Almost the entire right side of
the coachwork was torn out of
the bus, but only slight damage
was done to the lorry. Neither
driver was hurt.
