Notes about Richard Louis ADAMS

Richard Louis (Dick) Adams was born May 18, 1923, in Pleasant Grove, Utah to John Louis Adams and Caroline Hendrickson Adams. He lived a long and enjoyable life and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 6, 2007. He grew up in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He was a radar operator during World War II, serving in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He married his eternal sweetheart, Naomi Fae Shepherd, on November 2, 1946. He was called back into military service during the Korean War and served as a radar operator/instructor in Olathe, Kansas. He spent his life as a builder and served as president of the Utah Valley Home Builders Association. Many schools, government buildings, and homes will stand as memorials to his talents and skills. He donated his services in building the Senior Citizen Center in Pleasant Grove as a gift to the city. He had a strong work ethic and taught his children the value of hard work in all aspects of their lives. He moved the family to a farm on West Mountain so his five sons could have work to do during their teenage years. After he retired, he helped those same sons start their own construction business, Adcon, Inc. If he was not working, he was with his family stream fishing, boating, or camping. He loved the mountains and volunteered to inspect buildings for the US Forest Service in the Uintah and Fish Lake National Forests. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife, Naomi, and eight children; Janene (Loel) DuBois; Sunda (Tom) Lindsay; Nancy (Vern) Pyne; Deloy (Linda) Adams; Kevin (Laurie) Adams; Brad (Ann) Adams; Randy (Tammy) Adams; Kelly (LeaAnn) Adams. His posterity includes 33 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren with 2 more expected soon. One daughter, Mary Teresa, preceded him in death. He is survived by one sister, Mary Swensen.
