BAXTER-BURK WEDDING
Paterson St. Methodist Church was the
scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday
afternoon, when Jean Verna, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. I. V. Burk, George Town,
and Edward Alan, son of Mr. and Mrs.
G. E. Baxter, South Lismore, N.S.W.,
were married by Rev. N. E. Lade.
The bride, who was given away by her
father, wore a lovely gown of heavy
bridal cloth. The low heart-shaped
neckline was swathed to form lovers'
knots which cascaded to the train. A
lace veil, lent by her cousin, Mrs. Louis
Snare, fell gracefully from the tulle over
veil, lent by Mrs. Nicholas.
The shower bouquet was of carnations,
sweet peas, lilies and roses.
Attending the bride were her sister and
cousin, Muriel and Audrey Burk, dressed
alike in frocks of blue crepe which were
beaded at the shoulders and showed
straight necklines, with full bodice and
billowing skirts. Waist length veils of
tulle were worn, with topknots of pink
roses and sweet peas. Bouquets of the
same flowers were carried.
The 'groom was attended by Royce
Elliott as best man, and Phil Winter as
groomsman.
During the ceremony Miss M. Snare
sang "Oh, Promise Me."
Later the bride's parents entertained 30
guests at the Lounge, and her ensemble
was of dusty pink under black, with
black accessories. The bridegroom's
parents were unable to be present.
The bride left for the honeymoonFix this text
wearing a blue suit under a silver-grey
coat, and her accessories were of black.
The couple will live on the N.W. Coast
for the duration of the war, and later
at Lismore, N.S.W.
