From Penitentiary records:George Boatman. From Grainger County, Crime: Incest, Sentence: five years from Sept.9, 1842 Rec'd Sept 9, 1842. He is 70 years old, 6' 3" high, weighs 157 lbs. Born in Virginia, bro't up in the Holston River in Grainger Co., Tenn. Has a wife and 10 children living in the above named county, six of whom are married. He has yellowish blue eyes, fair skin and white hair. Has had his leg broke by the kick of a horse.George Boatman, age 70, born in Virginia, occupation farmer. Convicted of incest by a court in Grainger County and sentenced to 5 years in the Penitentiary. Received Sept. 9, 1842 and discharged Jan 6 1843. Notes: died of old age, sent to Gregory.
