Cor huwde op 26 augustus 1895 in Breda met Ciska (Francisca Helena Petronella) van Engelen.

Uit dat huwelijk werden drie zonen en drie dochters geboren:

Johanna 1896, Thomas 1897, Wilhelmus 1899, Antonius 1900, Elisabeth 1902 en Cornelia 1907.

Cor was directeur van de N.V. C.H. van der Sommen Borstelfabrieken aan de Demer 15 te Eindhoven.

 

Uit de gegevens van het bevolkingsregister van Eindhoven valt op dat de eerste vier kinderen als tiener voor een aantal jaren het huis uit gingen.

Johanna vertrok op 14 september 1909 op 13 jarige leeftijd naar Hoge en Lage Zwaluwe en keerde op 24 april 1912 weer naar het ouderlijke huis terug, om op 20 februari 1919 op 23 jarige leeftijd naar den Bosch te vertrekken.

Thom vertrok 10 september 1910, 12 jaar oud, naar Weert, waarschijnlijk om onderwijs te volgen aan het Bisschoppelijk College aldaar. Hij keert 5 september 1913 weer naar Eindhoven terug.

Broer Wim gaat op 9 september 1912, 13 jaar oud, naar Weert en keert 16 september 1914 terug.

Anton tenslotte vertrekt op 6 september 1915, 15 jaar oud, naar Weert en keert 25 juni 1918 weer terug, maar vertrekt 8 juni 1920 naar Rotterdam.

 

Cor was 40 jaar lid en 25 jaar secretaris van het zangkoor van de Sint Catharinakerk. 

 

 

Deze foto werd genomen achter het magazijn van de borstelfabriek Demer 15 bij het zilveren feest van Cor van der Sommen april 1925 als secretaris van het zangkoor van Sint Catharina te Eindhoven. Cor zit in het midden.

Cor overleed op 18 augustus 1925 in Eindhoven.

 

Thomas volgde Cor waarschijnlijk op als directeur van de borstelfabriek.

Hij trouwde 8 oktober 1926 met Hendrina van Beek

Hij overleed in Utrecht. 7 december 1933, 11 uur in de morgen. Het overlijden werd aangegeven door Wilhelmus Hendrikus Broekman, 48 jaar, bediende en Gerard Hemkert, 36 jaar, bode.

Hij had geen kinderen.

 

Wim trouwde 13 september 1929 in Bussum met Clara van Praag.

Omdat Clara een jodin was, was de familie niet blij met dit huwelijk.

Ze kregen als kinderen Anneke en Elly (1931 - ).

Wim had zich als fotograaf gevestigd in Bussum aan de Brinklaan 64 en later in 1932 Hilversum.
