Blauwverver
Een blauwverver was iemand die kleding blauw verft, vaak met de kleur indigo. Het verven van kleding werd om verschillende redenen gedaan. In de eerste plaats omdat de kleur van de kleding redelijk snel vervaagde, kleding werd vaak gedragen en gewassen. Wilde je er toch netjes uitzien en je had wat geld, dan bracht je je klofje even naar de blauwverver. In de tweede plaats werd kleding donkerblauw, bijna tegen het zwarte aan, geverfd als de drager ervan in rouw was. Soms duurde deze periode wel enkele maanden.
