Onze eeuwenoude uitspanning “De Zwarte Boer”, gelegen in het schitterende Leuvenum, heeft een geschiedenis die terugvoert naar het jaar 1600.
Het prachtige pand (van oorsprong een boerderij) stond toen al bekend als pleisterplaats/poststation.
“De Zwarte Boer” bevindt zich op het kruispunt van de oude hessenwegen Harderwijk-Deventer, Amersfoort-Zutphen en Putten-Zwolle. De diligences die hier passeerden konden hier een tussenstop maken. De paarden konden hier worden verwisseld, brieven en pakjes konden worden overgedragen. Ook de koetsiers konden even bijkomen van een lange rit en aandacht schenken aan de inwendige mens in de gelagkamer, om vervolgens hun rit voort te zetten.
