    In Den Haag is op 69-jarige leeftijd overleden prof. dr. W. van Dijck, oudhoogleraar in de Fysische Technologie aan de Technische Hogeschool van Delft en adviseur op het gebied van de nucleaire energie van de Kon. Shellgroep. De crematie heeft instilte plaats gevonden.
    Willem Johannes Dominicus van Dijck werd in 1899 te Utrecht geboren. Aan de universiteit in zijn geboortestad studeerde hij Wis- en Natuurkunde. In 1927 promoveerde hij cum laude tot doctor in de Wis- en Natuurkunde. In 1936 werd hij aan de Technische Hogeschool van Delft bene>emd tot bijzonder hoogleraar in het toendertijd nieuwe vak leervak der Fysische Technologie, welke funktie hij tot 1949 vervulde.
    Prof van Dijck is voorts o.a. curator geweest van de Rijksuniversiteit van Leiden, van de stichting Reactorencentrum Nederland en van het Mathematisch Centrum en bestuurslid van de Ned. Org. voor Zuiver Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek en van TNO. Ter gelegenheid van het 50-jarig jubileum van het Hoogewerff Fonds, in 1967, werd aan prof. Van Dijck de gouden Hoogewerffmedaille voor uitnemend werk op het gebied van de Chemische technologie toegekend, wegens zijn grote stimulerende invloed op het fysisch-mathematisch denken in de Chemische Technologie. Prof. Van Dijck was ridder in de orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw.
