- Door den nieuwen eigenaar van het eiland Schiermonnikoog, graaf B. von Bernstorff-Wehningen, werd in de afgeloopen week aan alle bewoners zonder onderscheid een feest aangeboden. Vóór zijn vertrek naar zijn kasteel in Hannover wenschte hij allen nog eens om zich vereenigd te zien. De uitnoodiging gold voor ieder boven de 17 jaren. Arm en rijk hadden zich op zijn buitenverblijf “Rijsbergen” verzameld: de receptie werd met een bal besloten, waaraan de graaf en de gravin met hunne kinderen deelnamen. Ruim driehonderd personen hadden van de uitnoodiging gebruik gemaakt.
