Colin "Iongarrlach" (the Wonderful) received a charter in 1361 from his kinswoman Christina heiress of Dugald of Craignish to lands in Craignish. In 1364 he had a deed of gift from Robert Erskine of Erskine to Menstrie belonging to the son of John Campbell of Menstrie. He obtained a grant from Robert III to land in Nether Cowal 20 June 1404. He also had a charter from Robert, Duke of Albany to the lands of Strachachy in the barony of Cowal Stewart and of all other lands which he held of the Earl of Menteith dated Stirling 5 May 1409. These grants were mostly in reward for his assisting the King in restraining the incursions of the Highlanders who had invaded the western parts of the country.
