A SPECIAL Foundation has been set up in memory of former Cowdenbeath Citizen of the Year, Stuart Juner, who died aged only 47, which will raise funds for good local causes.

Stuart died of a heart attack and the Stuart Juner Big Heart Foundation will raise money for the British Heart Foundation and local causes.

Stuart was a huge character who got involved in any Cowdenbeath cause who asked for his support and he was particularly involved with the town’s football club.

He was a former director of the club and chairman of the Cowdenbeath FC Supporters Trust and worked hard behind the scenes while he was also treasurer of the town’s Broad Street Bowling Club.

His partner Liz McKenzie and a group of his friends decided that such was Stuart’s desire to help people that something should be set up to remember him and help good causes. And Fife Provost, Jim Leishman is backing the move.

Said Liz, “Stuart was always out there wanting to help any Cowdenbeath cause and we felt that we should establish a body which would help good local people and that is where the Stuart Juner Big Heart Foundation came from.

“The plan is to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and also any local cause that might be nominated.

“We already have Ally Cornbill, who is running his first marathon in Edinburgh in June, raising cash for us and the British Heart Foundation while we will hold our first official fundraiser on Friday 11th July to coincide with what would have been Stuart’s 48th birthday, which will be an 80s party night at Broad Street BC. There are other ideas in the pipeline and the committee will be putting together a schedule soon.” One of the people involved in the committee, Peter Hynd, said, “Stuart was a very community minded man who helped a lot of people so we felt it was right that he should be remembered in this way. By helping the British Heart Foundation and local good causes at the same time, it is a fitting way to remember such a big Cowdenbeath character.” Provost Jim Leishman met with the committee on Sunday at Broad Street BC and pleged his backing, “Stuart was a Cowdenbeath man through and through and the Foundation is a tremendous idea.” Our pictures show Stuart, and the scene on Sunday when Jim Leishman gave his backing to the Foundation.

3. On 01/06/2018 at 20:31, The Minertaur said: What was the story with the late Stuart Juner and Pascal Bruno?
Can vaguely remember Stuart shouted something like give us a wave and it cost us a goal emoji38.png

Here we are - from the text of a book called Black Diamonds and the Blue Brazil:
One incident stands out. Levein persuaded his friend, Pasquale Bruno, the ex-Juventus, Torino, Fiorentina and Hearts star, to make a cameo appearance for the Blue Brazil in a match at Central Park against Ross County. The tanned Italian superstar strolled elegantly around the Fife Maracana. Then, with Cowden 2-0 ahead, Stuart Juner, a legendary Cowden terracing wit, shouted: “Hey Pasquale, where have you been all my life?” Bruno looked up and grinned - and completely missed the ball, allowing the Ross County striker to run straight through and score. The Blue Brazil ended up losing 3-2.

If it's in Black Diamonds, it must be true...:whistle or aproximately true.

I must say the late lamented Stuart Juner was best terracing wit I've ever heard.

    3. Family Information, 2013 Stuart Gordon Juner
On 29 December 2013, Cowden fans were shocked to learn of the
sudden death at the age of 47 of Stuart Juner, a lifelong supporter of
the club who had travelled all over Scotland to cheer on the Blue Brazil.
He established the satirical Cowdenbeath fanzine When the Sun Shines,
writing with great panache under the name of 'Big Bob'. In 2009, he was
one of the founders of the Cowden Trust. This led in turn to the establish-
ment of the Cowdenbeath Action Group, which succeeded in negotiating
a way forward with the Brewster brothers who owned the club. The Action
Group eventually took over the running of Cowdenbeath FC and appointed
new club directors. For his work with the club and the town, Stuart was
chosen as Cowdenbeath's Citizen of the Year in 2010. He is survived by
      partner Liz and daughter Emily.
