Op 16 Maart 1615 was Henricus geregistreed als theological student bij de universiteit in Groningen en op 19 April 1616 hij was "beroepen" in Kropswolde.

Het duurde een tijdje voor de classis Groningen dit toestemde (1617). Voor 26 July 1621 was hij predikant in Groot- en Klein Termunten, de classis stemde dit toe op 1 augustus. Op 17 October 1634 stemde de classis Oldambt zijn predikantschap toe in Borgsweer, samen met Termunten
