    Deze hoofdeling en baron had onder meer de functie van drost van het amt Leerort/Lehrort, dat bestond uit de voormalige vesting Leerort en de stad Leer en omgeving. Haro en Elisabeth woonden in kasteel Gödens, het centrum van de gelijknamige heerlijkheid.

    Haro had een eerder huwelijk - dat begon in 1602 - met de in 1580 geboren Catharina von Inn- und Kniphausen.

    Haro Freytagh war Herr zu Gödens.

    Hebrich (von Inn- und Kniphausen) liet in 1551 een groots stadshuis in Emden bouwen. Dit "Gödenser Haus" werd in 1619 door Anna van Ewsums grootouders Haro von Freytagh en Elisabeth von Haren auf Osten gerenoveerd en het ging in 1637 naar hun zoon Johann Wilhelm. Het is tegenwoordig een woonhuis voor studenten.
